Experimenting with Octane Renderer in Maya. I find myself more at home using Maya, so when I realized that I could use Octane as a plugin I immediately wanted to run some test renders, the first thing I wanted to try out was utilizing Maya's MASH network in combination with the materials that can be created via Octane, and it didn't disappoint.
Took me a while to get the volumetric fog working, however I believe the results paid off and I learnt a ton doing it.
I still have a lot to learn about Octane, this ended up being an 8 hour render @ 18000 passes on an RTX 3090, possibly due to a combo of the high poly count in scene and the use of refraction materials. I could have gone with less passes, however I let it run overnight to reduce as much noise as possible, optimization is the next step here for faster results.
